ARTiFACES uses only premium theatrical water-based professional face/body art products (no acrylics!). They not only comply with FDA regulations* , but also have been safety-tested, and are safe and gentle for use on the skin. Our cosmetic glitter is *not* metal-based, and is safe for both the eyes and mouth. These products wash off easily with warm water and mild soap (or fragrance-free baby wipes). Only the smile remains!

Please email us early to reserve your date - Saturday afternoons fill up especially quickly, as they are our most popular/requested day, both for birthday parties and corporate events. Our busiest months are May, June, September, October, and December.
We are happy to work either outdoors or indoors. If indoors, please would you provide two like-height chairs, and an approximately 6 ft. x 6 ft. space for our working area. If outdoors, please note that we must have shade for our paints: a dense tree, porch, canopy, gazebo, etc. are just fine. If shade is not available (or if a more festival atmosphere is desired), we would be happy to bring a large EZ-Up canopy along with festival face painting banners, for a small fee ($30).

Travel - we are happy to travel to your location complementarily if in the proximity of York, PA. If outside of the York area (such as in Lancaster, Reading, Camp Hill, Hanover, Harrisburg, Hershey, northern MD, etc), there is a one-time $20 travel fee. Philadelphia and DC metro area (MD/VA) travel fees are $180. For further distances, we require airfare and hotel accommodations, as well as our hourly rates during the actual event.
Master Artis t - a master artist is hired as the primary painter. We have one full-time master artist (Barbie) and access to part-time master artists (Debi, Melissa, and Christine). Line managers (Bethany) and/or apprentices can also be hired to assist with large volumes. For example, a birthday party of 12 children usually requires just one master artist, for one hour. $100 first full hour/$38 subsequent half hours.
Apprentice Artis t - apprentices have been trained to provide beautiful artwork, at approximately 70-80% of the level of the master painters, and 70-80% of the speed of the master artists. Apprentices are usually requested for festivals or corporate events, to work side-by-side with the master artist(s). Note: a pprentices are only hired when at least one master artist is present, they are not hired solo. $60 first hour/$25 subsequent half hours.
Line Manager/Junior Photographer - a line manager will speed up the artist by 20-30%, and is highly recommended for events with over 50 guests. S(he) handles all customer relations (design questions, picking out designs/colors, questions about the supplies and technique, general interest questions), will keep the queue in order, and will take (informal) photographs of all guests being face painted. Photos can be emailed to the host, or can be posted on a private web page for viewing by your guests (with a password, if desired). A line manager is a great value if your event will be busy, you wish to maximize the productivity of the artist(s), or you desire a very enjoyable queuing experience for your guests. If your event is small (such as a small birthday party) a line manager is not necessary, unless you desire photographs. $30 first full hour/$10 subsequent half hours.
Glitter Tattooist - glitter tattoos are a new phenomenon and are very popular with children, tweens, and teens (as well as adults, especially if done with mica). They are waterproof and will last 3-5 days, though they can easily be removed earlier with rubbing alcohol. Great for pool parties, graduations, as add-ons to face painting, sleepovers, or on their own at glitter tattoo parties. $100 first hour/$38 subsequent half hours.
